Format

Ugly / Anti-Ad Static

Deliberately under-designed static.

How the format works

1. Monospace Headline: Raw, unstyled system font (e.g. Courier New or MS Sans Serif) on a flat off-white background with zero stock imagery. 2. Unfiltered Value Proposition: A single stark, high-contrast sentence communicating a breakthrough finding or contrarian truth. 3. Proof Underline: A simple hand-drawn or plain underline highlighting the single metric or customer quote. 4. Hyperlink-Style CTA: Blue underlined link text resembling an early web hyperlink directing the user to the landing page.

Illustrative example ads

Raw Windows 95 Notepad Text Ad (Illustrative Idea)

A deliberately unstyled, stark graphic resembling default Courier New text on a plain light grey background with zero gradients or stock photography. The text reads: 'Stop buying £2,000 video ad templates when you can’t describe your product in 10 words. Here are the 3 words that doubled our checkout rate: ...'

Scenario / Brand: E-Commerce Performance Marketing Tool

First-frame patterns & pacing

  • Instant scroll-stop: Looks like an unstyled text file or leaked developer note
  • Zero corporate polish: Deliberate lack of logo lockups or marketing graphics
